Mountain biking in Vaud

An ideal starting point for a mountain bike outing, Col des Mosses and its surrounding landscape offer tracks that are accessible to all levels. For well trained legs but also for amateurs, Col des Mosses offers a network of varied MB circuits.

The Mont Tendre Bike route is the ideal way to discover everything the Vallée de Joux has to offer. This circular route takes you through the foothills of Mont Tendre, the highest peak of the Swiss Jura, (1,680m), and returns along the south bank of Lac de Joux.

Steep ascent to the summit of the Col des Mosses, on picture-book meadow trails and mountain paths high above the valley to Leysin, always face to face with the Valais Alps. The lovely long descent to Aigle is a highlight for bikers certain of their ability.

If you believe Switzerland is a densely populated country, just take a tour in the border area between Switzerland and France in the Vallée de Joux to change your mind. Generally you are as alone here as you would be in the forests of Canada.

The final stage of the Panorama Bike route is nothing less than spectacular. It runs from Col de Jaman directly to the shores of Lake Geneva in Montreux. In good weather and with a little luck you might even see a bit of “smoke on the water” from high up.

Loop linking Vallorbe to Premier, descent to Romainmôtier, ascent to Vaulion and back to Vallorbe by passing Dent de Vaulion.

Below the rocky Auguilles de Baumles, the route crosses a lonely region with many bunkers from World War II. The last ascent leads into the Vallée de Joux, a true gem with a wealth of flora and two lakes!

A diverse and scenic stretch along Lac des Chavonnes, a deep-blue mountain lake. The highest part of the route with a spectacular panorama is reached high above Villars, before the racy descent begins into the Rhone Valley.

The stage runs through pine woods to Col de Marchairuz, the views over Lac Léman the reward for your uphill effort. A final descent leads along the Jura ridge to the vineyards of the Lac Léman region.

In 1997, the entire mountain biking world talked about Château-d’Oex, where the world championships were held. The region has been quiet since then, but the beautiful routes for anybody are still there.

This medium-loop circuit leaves from St-Cergue and leads through woods and pastures to La Givrine through the Regional Nature Park of the Vaudois Jura. The return trip takes bikers through beautiful little valleys back to the village.

Varied itinerary in woods, pastures and on winding roads. It is ideal to discover the Les Diablerets land-scapes. At a stop half-way at Lake Retaud, mountain bikers can stretch their legs and admire the majestic Diablerets massif.

This trail takes you along the heights of the Montreux Riviera, through its forests, clearings, most renowned passes and panoramic routes. It offers a beautiful outlook over the Montreux Riviera and is a thrill for experienced mountain bikers.

Die «Alpes de la Région du Léman Bike» route is a mountain-bike tour through picture-postcard Switzerland: charming wooden chalets, lush meadows with grazing cows, high mountains, commanding glaciers and crystal-clear lakes alternating with lonely forests.

Bucolic itinerary in the countryside during which you will appreciate the peace and quiet of the Culan cirque and of the hamlet Taveyanne. You will also discover the Frience Alpine meadows with the Argentine massif and the Muveran mountain chain as a backdrop.
