Intro
The Swiss design scene has found a place to present its creations once a year: every winter, the DESIGNGUT fair in Winterthur showcases works by Swiss designers who are committed to sustainability.
Can beautiful design also be sustainable? Absolutely! Just ask the creators at the recently established DESIGNGUT fair in Winterthur – all of whom are women. “We believe that conscious, sustainable consumption will become more and more popular,” says Christina Müller, who founded DESIGNGUT in 2010. Sustainability is a matter of course for Swiss designer labels, which produce locally and make careful use of resources, so it makes all the more sense to present their creations regularly.
Over four days in the autumn, almost 100 exhibitors – from emerging young talents to established names like Ida Gut – present their latest creations at Winterthur's Casino Theatre and the Museum of Applied Arts and Design. Visitors can see a whole range of items, from clothing and furniture to jewellery and home accessories. The fair also includes panel discussions, studio visits and themed city tours.
