Intro
Discover INTRURE, Sandrine Pelletier's new exhibition at the Musée Romain in Avenches
S'intrure is an old verb that is now rarely used. It means to intrude, by force, by trickery or clandestinely. With a series of sculptures and inscriptions of words on metal plates, Swiss artist Sandrine Pelletier has joined forces with the landmark exhibition at the Roman Museum in Avenches. The result is a dialogue between the past and the present - the sometimes banal present of our everyday objects. Bronze sculptures and contemporary acid-etched phrases intermingle and merge in the Museum, culminating in a sculpture of altered mirrors.
As part of Spécimens 24. Our collections tell the story... - the Naturéum's first major exhibition, Sandrine Pelletier has been given carte blanche to take over the northern gardens of the Palais de Rumine.
Echoing this installation, the exhibition Intrure takes a fresh look at the archaeological collections of the Roman Museum in Avenches, and explores new connections with the natural science specimens in the collections of the Canton of Vaud.
For the past 20 years, Sandrine Pelletier has been creating monumental works and installations that poetically evoke the people she meets and the places she discovers.
