Intro
Mont Vully stands at the western end of the Three-Lakes Region like a pearl embedded between the lakes of Murten, Neuchâtel and Biel.
The Celts and the Helvetians already appreciated the mild climate and the special charm of the Vully. They left significant archaeological traces here. Today, about 150 hectares of vines dominate the landscape on the southern slopes of Mont Vully. An educational theme trail from Sugiez through the vineyards to Môtier teaches guests about the origins of wine. At the northern foot you will find vegetables and arable farming.
From the highest point of Mont Vully, which is a protected nature reserve, one can enjoy a unique view of Lake Murten, the Mittelland, the Pre-Alps and the Alps towering majestically on the horizon. Towards the north, you can see the lakes of Neuchâtel and Biel as well as the Jura chain.
At the mouth of the Broye canal to Lake Neuchâtel, there is also the valuable nature reserve "Fanel/La Sauge" with its rich bird life.
A place of mystical power
Mont Vully has a magical attraction and you can actually feel a distinctive energy on these hills. The wind appears to have a special relation with the scenery and the enchanted forest trails look like they belong to a fairy tale. There are many mystical places to explore on Mont Vully: an oppidum with a rampart, built by the Celtic Helvetians, cave-like grottos from World War I and cryptic «abrasive blocks» - legend has it that these erratic boulders will turn about their own axis at certain times.
