Intro

The exhibition presents the foundation's assets in their entirety for the first time.

The 25 outstanding works of the Expressionism Foundation at the Kunstmuseum Bern have been brought together by the family of Hans Rudolf and Silvia Tschumi, who live near Bern.

The founders set themselves the goal of closing gaps in the holdings of the Kunstmuseum Bern and making their collection accessible to the public. The exhibition presents the foundation's collection in its entirety for the first time. Highlights include paintings by German Expressionists of the Brücke and Blauer Reiter movements such as Emil Nolde, Max Pechstein, Heinrich Campendonk, Gabriele Münter and Marianne von Werefkin, works by the Basel Red-Blue Group and expressive positions from international post-war art such as Karel Appel, Sam Francis and Teruko Yokoi.

The exhibition is dedicated to the memory of the donor Hans Rudolf Tschumi (1928-2025) and the donor Silvia Tschumi.
