L’exposition présente l’œuvre d’un artiste qui, avec constance et indépendance, a su renouveler le langage pictural contemporain : Jean-Frédéric Schnyder (Bâle, 1945).

L’exposition présente l’œuvre d’un artiste qui, avec constance et indépendance, a su renouveler le langage pictural contemporain : Jean-Frédéric Schnyder (Bâle, 1945). Considéré comme l’un des artistes suisses les plus innovants, Schnyder a développé en plus de soixante ans de carrière une production singulière, tout en maintenant un profil à la fois discret et central sur la scène internationale. Ironie, poésie et expérimentation se fondent dans son œuvre, qui traverse des genres et des styles variés, explorant la réalité quotidienne avec un regard toujours libre et personnel.

L’exposition au MASI réunit un nouveau cycle de peintures réalisées au cours des deux dernières années, parmi lesquelles petits paysages peints en plein air dans des régions montagneuses de Suisse. Ces œuvres récentes sont accompagnées de deux créations emblématiques : la série Billige Bilder (2000–2019) et le monumental Stilleben (1970).
