World Cup Skiing at Lauberhorn
Overview
Intro
The Lauberhorn races are a cult - and for once the Jungfrau is in the shade when focus is on the World Cup heroes dashing past the mountain in the backdrop.
Russisprung, Hundschopf, Minschkante, Zielschuss: There’s usually no need to introduce names of the Lauberhorn Downhill, with this classic stretch run as early as 1930. And since then the small village of Wengen in the Lauterbrunnen Valley is home to the notorious ski world every January. The racing stretch runs straight through the famous Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau panoramas of this ski resort - where the Patrouille Suisse adds to chilling sights with a spectacle in the sky and plenty of entertainment follows the races in this World Cup village.
The Slalom on Sunday is as much a part of World Cup tradition in Wengen as the famous Downhill. The Jungfrau region with Kleine Scheidegg-Männlichen resort is also reached from Grindelwald - and on the racing weekend in January extra trains will be running in order to deliver flocks of fans to Interlaken Ost; realm of the legendary mountain and famous races.
