Intro
The owner of Château de Mathod offers a guided tour of the 10 exceptional gardens, combining the history of the estate with botany.
Courtyard: a formal garden with symmetrical flowerbeds and gravel paths.
The English Garden: a romantic space with sinuous lines.
The Andalusian Patio: inner courtyard with potted citrus trees and central fountain.
Le Jardin de l'Église: the setting for the choir of the former 13th-century church.
The Japanese Garden: a Zen space with a pond, red bridge and Japanese maples.
The Parterre: a restored walled garden with a central pond and flower beds.
Le Jardin Potager à la Française: ornamental vegetable garden with geometric parterres and rose garden.
The apiary: an area dedicated to our bees, producing tasty local honey.
The Allées: walks lined with 200-year-old trees, offering shade and coolness.
The Truffle Orchard: oak and hazelnut trees planted to grow black truffles.
* Every Saturday between 05 April and 13 September from 10.30am to 12.00pm.
* Einheitspreis von 20CHF pro Person.
* Visits must be booked 48 hours in advance for a minimum of 2 people. The 1? hour tour ends with a gourmet break, where you will be offered a hot or refreshing drink.
* To extend the experience, a snack menu is available on site (book 48 hours in advance), and can be consulted on the château's official website: chateaudemathod.ch/our services.
