We are 1,211 metres above sea level and always open in good weather. And we’re always open at the weekend, no matter what the weather has in store. On weekdays, you’ll know the kitchens are open when you see the flag flying.

At lunchtime we serve platters, set menus and a la carte dishes, in the evening we serve tapas, surprise menus and a la carte dishes.

Three years ago, this typical Appenzell house in the heart of Teufen was renovated from top to bottom in a tasteful and historically sensitive way. The menu was also given a revamp; typical dishes like calf's liver and braised calf's cheek are served with surprising accompaniments.

Over the years, the Schafräti has become a good home-style restaurant.
