Taking you through a striking array of contrasts, this diverse hike starts at the sophisticated and lively town of Montreux and ends at the craggy summit of Rochers de Naye.
Description
This mountain hike starts at the Station de Jaman and winds its way up past Col de Bonaudon to Grottes de Naye. In summer, the caves are open to the public and a short section of the walk can be completed underground. A head torch is essential and anyone with claustrophobia should stay well away! The uneven path through the caves is marked with arrows and fitted with steel ropes. As a rule of thumb, walkers should always stick to the left.
Once past the caves, the hike crosses the ridge to Chaux de Naye and continues to the upper station on Rochers de Naye. The steep climb is rewarded with stunning panoramic views. Walkers can stop for a bite to eat in the mountain restaurant or even stay overnight in one of the yurts. Next door to the restaurant is a marmot wildlife park, and those who still have a little energy left can climb the remaining 80 metres or so to the summit in just a few minutes. The return route follows the same Alpine path back downhill.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
