To the SAC Albert Heim Hütte
Overview
Intro
Zurich geologist and glaciologist Albert Heim proposed the site for this mountain hut, which has been repeatedly extended. Although the building no longer lies above the ice flow, the views of the Galenstock and crystalline rock-climbing routes are still stunning.
Description
An easy day trip from Tiefenbach or by car on the unpaved mountain road to the Tätsch parking area, and from there to the hut.
Various routes also follow the Tiefenbach Stream, starting directly from the mountain pass road. From the Tätsch parking area (fees are charged for the mountain pass road and parking area) there is a narrow path along the lateral moraine to the hut – this is the shortest route. On the ascent, it is worth making a short detour along the ridge path to the Schafberg and then across to the hut. The view of the Galenstock from here is superb.
After a snack in front of the SAC hut, you take the moraine path back to the parking area or to Tiefenbach. However, a night in the Albert Heim Hütte is a must – a memorable experience, not least because of the open-air shower with views of the Tiefen Glacier.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
