Schiller Wine
Intro
The Schiller Wine is a rose-colored wine produced from a mixture of red and white grapes, which are harvested and pressed at the same time. It is mandatory that the two types of grapes be blended before fermentation.
Description
Even during the Middle Ages a combination of grape varieties was not infrequently used in wine production. This meant that different types of grape vines were planted on the same vineyard lot. During the harvest various types of grapes were picked at the same time – including red and white grapes. Originally the mixed harvest helped to control risks such as sensitivity of the grapes to frost or pests.
