Gravella-Loipe
Overview
Intro
Located in the heart of the idyllic mountain village of Bivio, this leisurely trail runs in a flat loop over the Gravella plain and along the Julia river.
Description
The name Bivio stands for «cross road». Here, the two passes separate - Julier, leading to the Engadin, and Septimer, the old «Säumerweg» to the Bergell. Historic paths run through the highest village in the Surses Valley. Even the Romans used to transport their goods here. Nowadays, Bivio stands for the enjoyment of nature and cosy fun in the snow.
The simple cross-country skiing round course starts between the village and the Residenza Plaz, and follows the plains of Gravella between the village and the Julia river. One doesn't have to worry climbing on the flat ski trail. Nonetheless, the trail offers a magnificent view, nestling between the Piz Neir, Piz Scalotta and Roccabella.
The trail offers ideal conditions for beginners and children, who would like to enjoy cross-country skiing.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
