  • Bees & Friends at Culinarium Alpinum

Our insect hotel is located in the middle of the Edible Landscape at CULINARIUM ALPINUM in Stans. It offers a welcoming habitat for wild bees, butterflies, and other insects, with nesting opportunities and abundant sources of food. In addition to the insect hotel, the animals find shelter in piles of branches, dry-stone walls, and other natural hideaways. The idea behind the insect hotel came from a desire to create a sustainable habitat that promotes insect diversity while supporting ecological balance. The surrounding area is home to around 250 plant species, providing a rich source of nourishment all year round.

The bees live in a privileged natural environment in the foothills of the Bürgenberg. This allows for the production of honey with a wide range of flavour notes — from berries and linden to sycamore and many other blossoms native to the Bürgenberg.

  • Bees & Friends at Hotel Villa Honegg

The beehives are located near the herb garden at an altitude of 914 meters and were established a few years ago with the idea of producing our own honey for our guests. The inspiration came from a desire to promote sustainability and offer guests a unique experience at breakfast. The beehives are carefully tended by a local beekeeper, who looks after the bees with great dedication and expertise. Through this initiative, we also aim to preserve the region’s long-standing tradition of honey production.
