The American artist Dan Flavin was using neon in artworks from 1963 onwards, but Maurizio Nannucci was the first to do so as "a form of scripture". By presenting characters, words or phrases as works of art, he set out to design luminous objects installed in existing contexts, thereby building up a genuine dialogue with the architecture. The letters of "Art" are not aligned on the wall, but are superimposed on one and the same panel.
