From May to October, every second Saturday of the month, the “Erlebniszug San Gottardo” makes the trip along the Gotthard railway line from Erstfeld to Bodio and back. A Ce 6/8 II “Crocodile” or the legendary Ae 6/6 serves as a locomotive for the historic train journey. The guests travel the way they would have done in days gone by. Along the way, there are connections to numerous excursion destinations, such as Andermatt, Bellinzona, Locarno or Lugano. The “Erlebniszug San Gottardo” makes its way south from Erstfeld around 9:45 a.m. The locomotive change manoeuvre takes place in Bodio around midday. With stops in Faido, Airolo and Göschenen, the train travels along the Gotthard railway line with its seven impressive loop tunnels back to Erstfeld, where the train arrives around 4:25 p.m.
