The Hochwacht Reisiswil is one of the most beautiful excursion destinations in Oberaargau. Located at 780 metres above sea level, it offers impressive views, nature experience and relaxation away from the hustle and bustle. Surrounded by forests and rolling hills, the Hochwacht is an ideal place for day trips, hikes and enjoyable moments.
The 20-metre-high observation tower on the Hochwacht offers an impressive panoramic view of the Swiss Plateau, the Aare Valley, the Jura heights
and, on a clear day, as far as the Alps. A panorama board with numerous summit designations invites you to discover and linger – a highlight for nature lovers and photographers.
The Hochwacht also has a historical significance: In the past, it was part of a Bernese mountain fire system, which was used to pass on important warning signals over long distances.
Enjoyment & hospitality at the Waldhaus Hochwacht
The Waldhaus Hochwacht is located directly next to the observation tower, a popular excursion restaurant in the middle of nature. Home-style food is served in a cosy atmosphere – ideal for a stopover after the hike or a relaxing Sunday with family and friends.
The Waldhaus offers:

- Accommodates up to 130 guests indoors
- Around 200 outdoor seats
The restaurant is also ideal for groups, club events, family celebrations and corporate events. The Waldhaus is open from Easter to the end of October on Sundays, further openings are possible on request.
