Chrüzegg Trail
Overview
Intro
At the top of Atzmännig, an exciting ridge trail between the Toggenburg and the Zurich Oberland with views over the rolling Alpine foothills awaits snowshoers.
Description
Atzmännig has plenty to offer in winter as well. From Atzmännig mountain station, two snowshoe treks lead back down to the valley station. The Chrüzegg Trail is the longer and more spectacular of the two. It runs along the ridge between the Toggenburg and the Zurich Oberland.
After the chair-lift ride, you can first enjoy the views of Lake Zurich below and the Alps in the distance. The route starts with a short climb up to Schwammegg. The trail continues along the ridge at a fairly steady altitude past Tweralpspitz to Chrüzegg. At the Chrüzegg pass, where many hikers and bikers come through during summer, there is a popular mountain restaurant. In winter, it is open on weekends only. From Chrüzegg, the route leads along the ridge via Chabis back down to the valley.
Along the way, hikers get to see the rolling hills of the Goldingen Valley and the Ricken from a different perspective. From the ridge, you can enjoy magnificent views of both sides, the Zurich Oberland and the Toggenburg.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
