Intro

Not every bike ride has to be a technical feat. Despite the lack of trails, this cycle route from Brigels is one of the most popular in the area. Vibrant hayfields, picturesque Alpine roads and green mountain forests are the highlights of this pleasant tour.

Description

This tour sets off from the resort of Brigels with its picturesque village centre. Thanks to the Alpine roads, less technically seasoned riders can also enjoy this route’s impressive views in all its glory. The start point is ideally situated by the Lag da Breil. The reservoir is often a radiant shade of turquoise – make sure to take a snap before setting off!

To begin with, you can just cruise along the terrain at Migliè, as the area is slightly downhill for the most part. But the easygoing introduction was just for starters: from Curtginet in Waltensburg, the route initially leads over the village road to Andiast, before reaching the seemingly endless Alpine road up a steep incline until you arrive at the old Resgia Gneida sawmill. Once upon a time, entire tree trunks were sawed through here using only the power of water. Nowadays, you can book guided tours of the sawmill. The tour then leads onwards towards the ski resort. If you aren’t too exhausted, you can take a detour with around 100 metres of additional altitude to Ladral first. The flat, expansive Alpine terrain is a little idyll in amongst the magnificent mountain scenery.

This route then continues almost until Alp Dado Sut. This is the highest point of the tour. In other words, it’s now time for the descent. This part consists of a mixture of hard surfaces and gravel roads. Towards the end, you will take a little detour to the bottom of the Val Frisal through the tunnels. The last section rolls along gravel roads immersed in mountain woodland until you reach Brigels village centre.

Here’s a tip for you: this tour is suitable for sturdy touring bikes or gravel bikes. But either way, you will need good gears and/or an electric motor.

An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
