Description

The Jurapark Aargau route is at once a journey through time and a discovery tour. In Brugg and Windisch, at the southern foot of the Jura, you can immerse yourself in the history of two empires from the first few minutes: the Roman amphitheatre, the Vindonissa Legionnaires' path with the only Roman legionnaires' camp in Switzerland and the Habsburg monastery of Königsfelden take you on a journey into the past.

Along the Aare, alluvial zones, secluded bays, wooded islands and sandbanks will delight you. Downstream, the route leads towards the moated castle, where the three Mittelland rivers Aare, Reuss and Limmat come together. The water from 40% of Switzerland's total area flows together here, shaping a unique river landscape.

As one would expect, the ups and downs are never far off in the Jura's hilly landscape. The path meanders leisurely through the species-rich cultivated landscape. Dry meadows, orchards, farmed fields and meadows alternate, while magnificent views reward any short ascents.

Passing quiet hamlets, you reach the banks of the Rhine. Laufenburg's terraced old town, with its towers and historic town wall nestled in the bend of the Rhine, is fascinating. A little later, you enter the upper Fricktal with its high-crowned orchards. Apple, pear, and cherry trees line the path, which meanders leisurely between pretty farming villages and meadows. The last section of the Jurapark Aargau route is all about enjoyment. Along the beautiful Aare riverside path, you leisurely coast to Brugg.

An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
