La Plaiv Skate
Overview
Intro
The La Plaiv skating run offers a magnificent scenic backdrop, fresh mountain air, excellent infrastructure and good surfaces. It is ideal for ambitious athletes as well as for family outings.
Description
The route starts in La Punt at the Krone inn, directly on the bank of the river Inn and amidst the stately patrician houses. Leaving the village with the Maloja wind at your back, you continue across the wide plain to the Zuoz-Madulain golf course. With beautiful views of the villages of Madulain and Zuoz - both are worth a visit with their typical Engadine houses with bay windows and sgraffito decorations - the route continues on the gently sloping terrain to the Zuoz La Resgia sports centre.
The second part of the circuit begins with a short, challenging ascent, followed by a longer, gentle descent. Towards the entrance to the Swiss National Park in S-chanf, the La Plaiv skating run follows the notorious Golan Heights, familiar from the Engadine ski marathon, on slightly undulating terrain.
Those who have not yet had enough or are looking for a bigger challenge can also tackle the route in the opposite direction up the valley and against the wind. Hence, the route also offers a perfect training opportunity for cross-country skiers of all categories who want to pursue their hobby in summer as well.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
