Mountain tour to the peak of Pizol
This tour leads past the Pizol Glacier to the peak of Pizol. The views range from the Wildsee to Pizol peak and all the way to the Graue Hörner. Today, only about 400 m are left of the Pizol Glacier, a cirque glacier.
The Pizol Glacier is the remnant of a cirque glacier, now only about 400 m long. It is situated below the peak of the Pizol.
The route to Pizol peak is provided with new signposts. It starts at Pizol Hut, which can be reached by gondola and chairlift. The ascent first leads up to Wildseelücke where Wildsee lake is visible and with breathtaking views of Pizol peak and the Graue Hörner. The trail then continues along Wildsee lake in the direction of Pizolsattel.
The altitude difference is 620 m and the challenging mountain tour from Pizol Hut to the peak takes about 2 hours. For safety reasons, due to falling rocks, the trail in the cliffs was relocated and a new route was built. The mountain route is provided with a steel cable serving as a handhold. There are fantastic views of Valenserberg along the way. This is a tour for experienced mountain hikers only. It is absolutely necessary to be surefooted and without fear of heights.
