Rosswald Bike
Overview
Intro
This descent runs from the Rosswald mountain station over the sunny mountain ridge with a view of the Rhone Valley to the gondola lift valley station. The path meanders all the way down for around 800 metres. It zigzags on wooded trails, forest paths and side roads.
Description
Rosswald is the start of the bike tour, and it is easy to reach on the gondola lift from Ried-Brig. The sunny mountain ridge with a view of the Rhone Valley, flanked by the Bernese and Valais Alps, is a popular excursion destination. There is a lake at the mountain station where you can enjoy a cooling swim. If you prefer to plunge straight into the valley instead of into the water, you can take the bike trail.
The signposted descent running around 800 metres downwards starts right by the mountain station. After a short stretch of about 200 metres on the gravel road down into the valley, you turn right onto the trail. Follow this up to the surfaced road at Resti, which you cross. Continuing to zigzag over the mountain ridge and a little way along the Bärgwasser, you reach the hamlet of Stückiegga. You follow the forest road and a trail to the Schallberg on the Simplon Road. The route then runs along a surfaced side road until it turns off onto the old Route Napoléon.
A few metres after the wayside shrine, you can look forward to another three kilometres of fun on trails: the route goes down through the forest in tight bends until you see the valley station. Once you are there, it is up to you to decide: do you head home or tackle a second round up the mountain?
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
