S-chanf-Zernez-Loipe
Overview
Intro
Cross-country ski trail through the forest from S-chanf to Zernez, an addition to the route of the Engadin ski marathon. It follows the Inn River and mostly runs gently downhill to the gateway of the Swiss National Park.
Description
Every winter the pristine village of S-chanf gets all spruced up. After all, this is the finish line of the Engadin ski marathon. But the cross-country fun is not quite over yet. The legendary ski marathon trail continues all the way to Zernez.
For about 15 km it follows the right side of the Inn River and winds its way through the lovely forests of the Engadin, mostly heading slightly downhill, but with a few short, but demanding uphill and downhill sections. The trail ends in Zernez, where Restorant Center da Sport is ready to serve well-earned refreshments on the sunny terrace.
Zernez is not only fascinating because it is the gateway to the Swiss National Park, it is also known for its authentic Engadin architecture and the typical local lifestyle. Located in the uppermost part of the Lower Engadin and near the Flüela and Ofen mountain passes, Zernez is an ideal starting point for outdoor adventures. Tip: Hop on the train to S-chanf and take a leisurely trip back to Zernez on your cross-country skis.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
