Schlittelweg Cuolm Sura–Ilanz

Intro
One of Switzerland’s longest sledding runs starts in Cuolm Sura below Piz Mundaun, which overlooks the entire Surselva district. The run is approximately 9 km long and meanders mostly through the forest via Flond down to the charming town of Ilanz.
Description
With a length of about 9 km and an altitude difference of 880 m, the route from Cuolm Sura down to Ilanz is one of the longest sledding runs in Switzerland. If there is sufficient snow, the last section from Flond to Ilanz is machine-groomed. In Cuolm Sura, follow the signs to the beginning of the sledding run.
The route descends through the forest in several turns. After passing Surcuolm you reach the Romansh-speaking village of Flond, situated on a fantastic high plateau. To continue the run, you have to cross the street below the village. The old Flond road re-enters the forest and with a final breath-taking downhill run you arrive in Ilanz. The route ends above the roundabout with the prominent rock needle.
Once you get there, take the safe pedestrian path, turning right before the cemetery and continuing to the Obertor bus stop. From there the postbus returns to Obersaxen Mundaun. You can also do part of the run and stop in Surcuolm or in Flond. A stop in Ilanz is also interesting. It is the commercial and cultural centre of the Surselva region. Part of the small town with its valuable buildings from the 16th and 17th century is still surrounded by the old city walls.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
