Vättis-Loipe
Overview
Intro
Leaving the civilisation behind and experiencing untouched nature in Tamina Valley: at the foot of Calanda this cross-country skiing trail follows Görbs River through the narrow valley into the direction of Kunkelpass.
Description
At the end of Tamina Valley the village Vättis is located, which is the most Southern village in the Canton St. Gallen. Winter hectic is searched in vain here.
The trail beneath Calanda winds up the narrow, lonely valley into the direction of Kunkelspass. Even in summer there is not much going on here: the street over Kunkelspass, which has been built during the First World War, is blocked for motor vehicle traffic. Only the popular mountain bike country route 90 passes by. In winter there is even more tranquillity here. The magical valley belongs to the cross-country skiers, except for some hikers, who walk along the winter hiking path parallel with the trail on the street, which is not cleared in winter.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
