A hike through the vineyards of the Chur Rhine Valley
Distance 24 km
Duration 6 h 6 min
Ascent 397 m
Discover the tastes of the Chur Rhine Valley on foot, by bicycle or by horse-drawn carriage. The wine trail leads past numerous idyllic spots, so you can choose your own personal highlights in this little area that is home to some great wines.
The landscape here make the Chur Rhine Valley and Bündner Herrschaft the perfect places for walks and hikes that are packed with surprises and new experiences. The wine-growing villages and suggested hiking trails lie like a string of pearls along the banks of the Rhine. They are just waiting for you to discover them in whatever sequence you choose. For example, on an autumn day when the Foehn wind blows, as the wine harvest approaches and each of the wine-growing communities takes a turn in getting dressed up for the autumn festivities.
The route suggested here links the most important and exciting wine-producing communities in Graubünden. As you hike from Malans to Badragaz you’ll pass countless ruined fortresses, castles, churches and, naturally, vineyards. There are several restaurants along the way that serve the best the region has to offer in terms of food and drink.
If this route is too long for you, you can choose to complete just some of its sections. Along the trail there are three circular walks, which can also be done independently. You’ll find more information about the variants and possible attractions along the way under Graubündenwein and on the viticulture hiking map.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
