All cycling routes in Biel

After passing through some lovely gorges, among them those at Moutier which once inspired Goethe, the landscape opens up to a wide valley. The journey ends in Delémont, the capital of the canton of Jura. Its historic center is well worth a visit.

«Child» of the Jura waters correction: the Nidau-Büren canal and the Häftli loop. The Witi, dry, where hares and storks gather. Nearby, the sluggish meandering Aare, in the distance, the St. Ursen tower announces the baroque town of Solothurn.

It is at Lake Biel where the German and French-speaking Switzerland meet.

From Seeland through fields and forests to Burgdorf, gateway to the Emmental. On through riverside woodlands , passing farmhouses to the Emmental’s main town of Langnau. Through green Entlebuch and a bird-filled water landscape to Luzern.

Along the Nidau-Büren canal and the winding Alte Aare, up to rolling rural landscape with small villages and modest farmhouses, an easy ride through forests and fields. Spot the courtship ritual of black and white lapwings at Fraubrunnenmoos.

The high points of this outing for well-prepared cyclists are the panoramic view at the top of the Chasseral and the back roads of the Bernese Jura.
