This tour affords a unique insight into the UNESCO World Heritage Swiss Tectonic Area Sardona. The little-known border area of cantons St. Gallen, Glarus and Graubunden is the best place in the world to observe the processes and evidence of mountain formation.

From Bodensee through orchards and vineyards through a varying cultural landscape with castles and alps. Views of the Rhine Valley and the mountain landscape are constant companions along the Rheintaler Höhenweg.

The Toggenburger Höhenweg presents hikers with one of the most beautiful but also one of the most challenging hiking routes in the St. Gallen countryside. Breathtaking and incomparable views constantly draw your gaze down into the lush green Thurtal valley.

Explore the unique countryside between the Bodensee and the Säntis on the Appenzellerland Culture Trail, a hike across Appenzellerland. Fifty interesting and varied cultural objects wait to be discovered.

From the Hallau wine region, the route leads through the extensive forests of the Randen hill chain, over the old high-level trail to Schaffhausen. On the way: superb views from towers on the Randen and from the elevated villages of Büttenhardt and Lohn.

The route follows the Thur to its source on Mount Säntis, through the varied Toggenburg landscape, to the plains of the Thur Valley and the Zurich wine-growing region, where the Thur flows into the Rhine.

The route via the Untersee lake and Hochrhein river was for centuries Switzerland's most important waterway. Today, it follows the ViaRhenana from Kreuzlingen via Schaffhausen to Basel, through a varied landscape shaped by water.

Crossing the border, the Appenzellerweg leads from the pilgrimage place of Rankweil in Vorarlberg to the Toggenburg monastery village of St. Peterzell. Following old pilgrimage routes, the European culture trail crosses the culturally and scenically unique Appenzell region.
