The BirdLife Nature Centre at La Sauge, between Ins (BE) and Cudrefin (VD), is located on the edge of Switzerland's two most important bird sanctuaries, the Fanel and the Cudrefin sanctuaries, on the south-eastern shore of Lake Neuchâtel (Grande Cariçaie).

The special topography of this mountain pass offers experienced hikers many opportunities for bird watching, especially during the fall migration between August and October.
