Intro

Label Fait Maison recognises restaurants on a voluntary basis that freshly prepare all or most of their food in their own kitchens. A dish is considered to be “made in-house” if it is prepared entirely on site from raw ingredients or products traditionally used in cooking.

Label Fait Maison was launched in French-speaking Switzerland by GastroSuisse, Swiss Gourmet Week, Slow Food Switzerland and the Fédération romande des consommateurs (French-speaking association for consumer protection) back in September 2017. It can be acquired by catering establishments of all kinds – from village pubs to mountain restaurants, and 5-star hotels to daycare centres – provided they meet the specifications.

The core values at the heart of Label Fait Maison are as follows:

  • Traceability: creating transparency for consumers
  • Authenticity: fighting against the standardisation of taste
  • Transparency: promoting the savoir-faire of Swiss gastronomy
  • Regional origin and sustainability: promoting regional origin, seasonality and sustainability

If a dish or product does not meet the requirements of the specifications, this will be declared on the menu.

Discover the restaurants awarded the Label Fait Maison or in the process of certification. Through certification, the catering establishments undertake to offer you authentic cuisine made in-house in accordance with the label’s requirements.
