In the idyllic Schlüsselgärtli, it's not just bees that find blooming oases — our feathered guests also enjoy a cosy home here. A little birdhouse nestled high in the tree invites them to linger and rest.

Dedicated to the history of timekeeping, the Musée International d'Horlogerie (MIH) is home to more than 4,500 collection pieces, of which 2,700 watches and around 700 wall clocks. The technical, artistic, social and economic aspect of the history of watchmaking is illustrated here in living manner.

In summer, the beehives stand in the meadow right in front of the Scalottas Terroir restaurant – four traditional wooden hives. During winter, they are kept with the beekeeper in Zorten. For butterflies, wild bees, and other insects, we’ve created a flowering strip in the BergAcker, which belongs to the restaurant. Situated in Lain at 1,300 metres above sea level, the BergAcker is cultivated using permaculture principles.

Fribourg – founded in 1157 by Berthold IV, Duke of Zähringen – is a city of bridges in every respect. The city was built on both sides of the river La Sarine/Saane and there are bridges in all styles and from all eras. Being a bilingual city, it also bridges the cultures of the German- and French-speaking parts of Switzerland. Fribourg is home to many contemporary witnesses and architectural jewels, such as the Cathedral of Saint Nicholas, built in the 13th century, which dominates the centre of the historic Old City.

We are home to around six bee colonies, located directly on the hotel grounds and cared for by a local beekeeper. The honey they produce is used throughout the hotel, including at our breakfast buffet.

The Gottéron Gorge near Fribourg/Freiburg is a small but beautiful and idyllic valley between the German-speaking and French-speaking parts of Switzerland. Mighty, often vertically sloping rock walls line the narrow gorge.

The old town of St. Gallen offers a mixture of history and modernity. Highlights such as the Abbey District, historic alleyways and small cafés await you.

On Thurgau’s first marble run trail, the "Rugelreise", families can enjoy twelve marble runs in the idyllic Murg Valley. You can take the train from Frauenfeld to the Matzingen weaving mill, or vice versa. The walk leads back to the starting point along a variety of marble runs and the River Murg.

The grotto tour takes you on a culinary tour of discovery by boat. Visitors are taken to the grottos, a kind of tavern, and picked up again two hours later.

The fortifications of the town of Fribourg were built as protection for the town in the Middle Ages between the 13th and 15th centuries. With large sections of them having been preserved to this day, they are the most significant piece of medieval military architecture in Switzerland. They are also open to the public.

The “d’Grandfey”, a proud 12-seater boat powered by electric solar energy, offers a pleasure trip service between Schiffenen and the city of Fribourg (Neigles) and back.

Wild Bee Lodges – Where Design Meets Urban Biodiversity: In the garden of Silo Boutique & Design Hostel Basel, designer and concept developer Sarah Rittmann has created a stylish retreat for wild bees: the Wild Bee Hostel. Five elevated lodges made of natural materials rest on slender wooden stilts, nestled within raised beds and planted cavities integrated into the structure itself. With a hexagonal form and varying nest hole sizes, the lodges cater to the needs of different bee species. Natural materials like bamboo, reed, hardwood, and clay offer ideal, disease-resistant nesting conditions. A rooftop garden and lush green cavities provide nectar-rich food sources – right at the bees’ doorstep.

Tobogganists are often denied the chance to descend from the hight mountain peaks with stupendous views. No so in the case of Stoos, where tobogganists take off from the Fronalpstock summit.

Nestled in the small garden of Hotel Heiden, two bee hotels have been offering a warm welcome to our tiniest guests since last year. The idea blossomed during a staff training day, when a young trainee proposed it as part of a sustainability workshop.

Ever since 1892, the Brienz Rothorn Railway in Brienz in the Bernese Oberland has been stomping, huffing and puffing towards the Brienzer Rothorn.

For over 100 years asphalt was laboriously mined in the underground asphalt mines of La Presta and exported all over the world for road construction. Today the mines are no longer in operation and are partially open to the public as a museum.

Experienced climbers with a head for heights will welcome the opportunity to experience a “rock-climbing adventure” in the Saas Valley – the Via Ferrata Experience.
