Kerenzerberg Bike
Overview
Intro
All mountain bike lovers will enjoy this route on the Kerenzerberg in Glarus, along a plateau at the foothills of the Alps situated high above the Walensee lake, with a view over the Linth plain to Lake Zurich.
Description
We start near the valley station of Sportbahnen Kerenzerberg in Filzbach and travel by bike along Forststrasse to Alp Habergschwänd. At the end of the unpaved road, an (approx. 1km) single track leads to the restaurant of the same name. After a short descent, the Talsee lake invites you to take a swim and the Talalpsee mountain restaurant entices you to stop for a bite to eat.
From the alpine Talhütten leads a rough and sometimes steeply sloping path towards Hüttenberg road and to Hüttenberge restaurant. Further challenging sections await us on the descent to Mühlehorn. Here, on the shore of the Walensee lake, is the lowest point of this route. In the old hammer mill in Mühlehorn, stubborn, hard iron is made flexible and malleable in the furnace, in order to be able to form it into a new shape between a hammer and an anvil. An insight into this business is always worth it.
From now on, there's a pleasant journey upwards on the tarred, old Kerenzerberg road via Voglingen towards Obstalden and, from there, along the Kerenzerberg road to the starting point in Filzbach.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
