Rorschach: Enjoy the “five-country vista” with a fondue backpack

Enjoying a typically Swiss fondue in the great outdoors is a unique experience. Kündig Feinkost Käse in Rorschach and St. Gallen supplies all-inclusive fondue rucksacks for hikers. You might want to take a trek up to the “five-country vista” lookout point, for example.

There are many trails up the mountain range between Lake Constance and the Appenzell region with unique views of the lake and the five “countries”, namely Switzerland and Austria, plus the formerly autonomous states of Bavaria, Baden and Württemberg in Germany. A wooded area with benches and barbecue spots invites you to linger and enjoy the view. The perfect place for an outdoor fondue!

Unterterzen: Walensee e-bike culinary tour

Cycle from course to course: An e-bike tour along the Walensee allows you to do just that. You can hire an e-bike in Unterterzen and follow the lakeside path via Murg – a mecca for sweet chestnuts – all the way to the first course in a lakeside restaurant in Mühlehorn.

The next highlight is the view of the Seerenbach Falls, which are among the highest in Switzerland. Having arrived in Weesen, the main course is served at the Brasserie du Lac. The final few kilometres lead to Beetlis, where a ship is boarded for the return trip to Unterterzen – and dessert in the Walensee marina.

Maienfeld: Wine and food tasting in Stall 247

The starting point for a variety of foodstuffs such as milk, cheese or meat products is often a stall. This is also in line with the business philosophy of purchasing products from the manufacturer directly and serving them locally. The setting is in the heart of the vineyards in Maienfeld.

The menu focuses on simple but high-quality food – meat platters (charcuterie), cheese boards, sandwiches, soups, fresh cakes and other seasonal offerings. The restaurant’s interior promotes a relaxed atmosphere where all are welcome.

Rorschacherberg: Schloss Wartegg

The historic Biohotel Schloss Wartegg nestles in an English-style parkland with a fantastic view of Lake Constance. It was built in 1557 above the southern shores of Lake Constance. Around 1960, the former home of the Empress Zita fell into disuse. In 1994, new life was breathed into the property, which was carefully restored to become an elegant hotel.

Also unique are the castle gardens, featuring old crops (ProSpecieRara), many of which come from old farm gardens and are now used in the excellent slow food cuisine along with seasonal fresh produce.
