Drei Weieren (Three Ponds) are an oasis of peace in the middle of the city. The ponds, which were originally built by the monastery for their water needs with their art nouveau bath houses, are a popular destination for outings and as swimming spot.

中世ヨーロッパで「知の聖地」として名を轟かせた修道院。現在では宗教的な意味での修道院ではなくなりましたが、18世紀に改装された修道院の大聖堂、付属図書館、最古ともいわれる建築設計図などが高く評価され、1983年に世界文化遺産に認定されました。

Originally a private landscape garden, the City Park is today the largest contiguous green space in the St. Gallen inner city area. With its lawned areas under beautiful old trees, it is the epitome of a peaceful oasis in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the city. It is surrounded by Theater St. Gallen, the Museum of Art, and the Historical and Folklore Museum.

The fox takes chasers on four different trails across St. Gallen. The fox hides away in the “city of a thousand stairs”, as intricate as a piece of St. Gallen embroidery. Be careful not to lose the scent at the train station already.

The Abbey of St. Gall has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1983, and has plenty of impressive treasures just waiting to be discovered in its library, vaulted cellar and new exhibition hall.

On a hike through the St. Gallen region, you can expect breathtaking views of Lake Constance as well as a host of culinary delicacies.

St. Gallen has so much to offer when it comes to museums. Attractive, internationally renowned exhibitions and countless historic collections make for a diverse museum landscape. The open art Museum is particularly worth a visit.
