Intro

The Sagenmülital features the highest waterfall in the Canton Aargau and also includes a discontinued stone quarry and a light spruce forest in a spectacular setting.

Description

The village of Linn is known for its ancient celebrity, the linden tree of Linn. With a trunk circumference of approximately 11 meters and a height of 25 meters it is the largest linden tree in Switzerland. It is estimated to be around 800 years old. But there is so much more to explore in and around Linn.

Continuing from the tree and strolling through the village to the beautiful Sagemülitäli you will soon come across the next surprise: the stone quarry with its waterfall, the highest in the Canton Aargau at more than 5 meters. This is the waterfall of the Linn creek. Three creeks are merging in the Sagemülital valley near the quarry, the Gallenkirch creek, Bächli and the Linn creek. And they all tumble over a waterfall before they meet. The spruce forest is also a habitat for two dozen types of orchids and additionally has a quarry, shut down by now.

The waterfall is located on the Linn nature and culture path. Fourteen information panels are introducing the natural and cultural landscape of the Aargau Jura in the Linn area. The path is a contribution from the nature and bird protection club Bözberg on the occasion of the “700 years of Linn” celebration in 2006. There is no particular place to reach by this trail, because the journey is the destination here. It is made to simply stroll along and take in the spectacular scenery.
