Piazza Grande in Locarno is one of the largest town squares in Switzerland and the social heart of the city. It covers around 17,000 square meters and is known for its striking cobblestones and historic arcaded houses. The famous Locarno Film Festival and numerous other events take place here.

The Totem is clad in stones from Ticino that were removed during the boring of the AlpTransit tunnel. The new Piazza Ticino is one of the main stops on the La Via del Ceneri cultural trail. The oval-shaped space features five benches and four new trees, which offer a shady respite for visitors.

The old beech forests in Valle di Lodano in Vallemaggia are an enormous forest reservation set amidst a fascinating landscape with numerous natural elements and testimony of past human activities.
