Do nothing and still enjoy fantastic views far into the distance: with these tips, visitors can ascend the most beautiful panoramic peaks with minimal effort and enjoy some truly breathtaking views.

Two modern cable cars with panoramic windows transport guests up to the Moléson upper station. From the roof of the upper station, on a clear day visitors can enjoy views of the Fribourg mountains and Mont Blanc all the way to Lake Geneva and the Jura.

On the top of Europe

Visitors can take a leisurely trip up the Jungfraujoch with Jungfrau railway to the highest railway station in Europe at about 3,454m. Here, they switch to the lift and whizz up to the Sphinx viewing terrace, where a fantastic Alpine panorama with views of the Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch UNESCO World Heritage site awaits.

Impressive viewpoint

The world’s steepest funicular railway takes visitors up to Stoos in just three minutes. On foot or effortlessly by chair lift, the journey continues upwards to the local mountain of Stoos, the Fronalpstock. From here, visitors can enjoy an impressive panorama that includes ten lakes, Brunnen and Rütli on Lake Lucerne below, as well as Pilatus, Rigi and Säntis and views all the way to the Jura.

Varied view

The cable car up the Känzeli can be found right on the outskirts of Chur. Visitors switch to the gondola at the middle station and continue onwards and upwards all the way to the Brambrüesch. The views are truly diverse, from the Chur Rhine Valley and the Calanda, sweeping over Piz Beverin and Heinzenberg all the way to Lenzerheide.

The little steam locomotive huffs and puffs as its pulls its red scenic carriages from Lake Brienz up the Brienzer Rothorn in around one hour. Once at the top, visitors can gaze across the Bernese Alps and Lake Brienz all the way to the Grimsel region and Pilatus.

The best view of the Matterhorn

Surrounded by 29 4,000m peaks, including majestic giants such as the Matterhorn and Dufourspitze, and the third-longest glacier of the Alps, the Gornergrat boasts a mountain panorama that could not be grander in its magnificence. The cog railway takes visitors up the Gornergrat with a number of stops along the way.

Panorama with 24 4,000m peaks

Visitors can take a leisurely ride in the cable car to the spectacular Glacier 3000 upper station. Up here, a panoramic vista with 24 peaks over 4,000m appears almost out of the blue: the Eiger, Mönch, Jungfrau and Matterhorn all the way to Mont Blanc.

360° panoramic views

A cog railway has been taking visitors up to the peak of Monte Generoso for 125 years to enjoy the breathtaking 360° views from the best panoramic mountain in the canton of Ticino. From the top, they have a glorious panorama of the lakes region and the city of Lugano, all the way to the Bernina Range.

The panoramic mountain of Pizzo di Claro

At 2,727m, Pizzo di Claro, is the southernmost mountain of the Adula Alps renowned for its spectacular views. The western side of the peak towers 2,400m above the village of Claro on the border between the cantons of Ticino and Graubünden.
