Located at 2,120 meters, straddling the border of Toggenburg and Appenzellerland.
Hike in the wild and evocative landscape of the Alpstein massif, and you’ll never have to wait long for refreshment: around almost every corner you’ll find a typical mountain inn. The region prides itself on its local specialities as much as its tradition of heartfelt hospitality.
An interesting Alpine route goes from Mt. Säntis to the Rotstein Pass Hut (Lisengrat), or over to the Altmann and Zwingli Pass. The hut offers a mattress camp and a few rooms. The mountain house is open from June to October. Weather permitting, it is open in spring on weekends and on Easter and Whitsun Holidays. A breathtaking landscape, inhabited by the King of the Alps - the ibex.
