Gandegghütte
概覽
簡介
Built in 1885 and located at an altitude of 3,030 metres, this mountain hut is a lot simpler than the other Zermatt mountain restaurants presented here. The Gandegghütte, however, portrays better than any other hut the high Alpine and down-to-earth atmosphere of Zermatt.

Description
Ambience:
The Gandegghütte lies a little bit further back from a busy ski slope. Coming from the Gandegg ski lift, skiers have to take the right turn and do a few more pushes to get to the hut. Richard Lehner, together with his wife Yvette, is not only the host, but also a ski instructor, mountain guide and rescuer as well as a winner of the American Heroism Award (for a spectacular helicopter rescue at the Nepalese Annapurna mountain at 6,960 metres above sea level). By making a prior reservation, guests can also stay overnight in the dormitory of the hut, in summer and in winter. This is a unique experience for alpinists who would like to be the first on the mountain before other skiers arrive and thus, enjoy the exhilarating feeling of pristine ski slopes.
Location:
Located a bit away from the hustle and bustle of the ski slopes at a breathtaking vantage point, 3,030 m above sea level. The hut is surrounded by steep slopes. Skiers should take the Gandegg ski lift (station “Trockener Steg”) and follow the narrow ski slope to the very right until they reach the hut.
Cuisine:
Simple and good: classics from the Valais region, dried meat platters, cheese on toast, Rösti variations, fondue, chocolate and apricot cakes.
Good to know:
Staffed mountain restaurant
Open daily during the day.
