The Kandersteg – Oeschinensee gondola lift takes you up to the Jungfrau-Aletsch UNESCO World Heritage Site. Up here at 1578 meters, the turquoise Oeschinensee is waiting for you. It is surrounded by steeply rising rock faces.
The Gondola Kandersteg – Lake Oeschinen at a glance
From Kandersteg, the gondola lift goes up to the mountain station above Lake Oeschinen. A short walk of 30 minutes leads from the cable car to the turquoise mountain lake. On the lake, hiking trails, barbecue areas and rowing boats are available for rent. Tickets and a time slot for the gondola lift should be booked online.

Gondola ride (8 minutes)
With the gondola you float from Kandersteg over forests and alpine meadows towards the mountain station. After a short drive, the Kandertal spreads out below you and the view extends as far as the Wildstrubel and the Lohner. Once you arrive at the mountain station, the panorama opens up to the valley basin of Lake Oeschinen and the peaks of Blüemlisalp.

Walk to Lake Oeschinen (25 minutes)
From the mountain station of the gondola lift, you can reach the lake in about 25 minutes on foot. The path is well developed and also suitable for families with children. On the way you can enjoy unique views of Lake Oeschinen and the Blüemlisalp massif. Highly recommended: Take a break on the shore or rent a rowboat.
- Good to know: The path is barrier-free and well signposted.
- Tip: It is best to bring your own wood or charcoal for one of the barbecue areas.
Toboggan run at the mountain station (3–5 minutes)
Directly at the mountain station you start on the 750-meter-long toboggan run and glide down 150 meters in altitude through several curves. You control the speed yourself with the brake lever. Children from 8 years of age are allowed to ride alone, from 3 years of age accompanied.
- Good to know: The toboggan run is closed in wet and rainy conditions.
- Tip: Tickets are only available on site at the vending machine, not online.
