Mont-Soleil
Intro
On the heights of the Vallon de Saint-Imier is a stronghold of renewable energies. Between Mont-Soleil and Mont-Crosin, numerous activities, hikes, snowshoe trails and cross-country skiing trails are accessible to everyone.
Linked by the Sentier des Monts, an educational trail on renewable energies, Mont-Soleil and Mont-Crosin offer a wide range of sports and leisure activities. In summer, you can explore the heights on foot or by bike, even on a scooter or Segway. In winter, there is a mini-lift for families, numerous cross-country ski trails and snowshoe trails. A visit to the solar power station and wind turbines, which can be seen along the Sentiers des Monts, is not to be missed. The astronomical observatory also offers tours and sessions to observe the sun or the stars.
Winter
The Mont-Soleil ski lift offers a 120-metre slope from the Mont-Soleil funicular. The pull lift and telebob await young and old for slides in a family atmosphere. This short slope is ideal for children, families and beginners. Between Mont-Soleil and Mont-Crosin, there are also several routes that can be followed with snowshoes, as well as numerous kilometres of cross-country ski trails. These snowshoe or cross-country ski tours wind along the ridges of Mont-Crosin and Mont-Soleil, between wind turbines and solar power stations, with views of the impressive Chasseral massif overlooking the valley of Saint-Imier all along the way.
Summer
In summer, there are plenty of activities on the heights of Saint-Imier. Sentiers des Monts, which connects Mont-Soleil with Mont-Crosin, solar power plant and wind turbines, rental of scooters, bicycles and Segways, a visit to the astronomical observatory, hikes and mountain bike trails - visitors can discover all this on Mont-Soleil. Plus, as a bonus, there is a breathtaking view of the Combe Grède and the Chasseral.
