Parpaner Rothorn
Overview
Intro
This viewpoint was known a long time ago for ore mining, but is now famous for its far-reaching views. You could spot as many as 1,000 peaks from up here.
From the Heidsee lake, the gondola takes you to the tree line and Alp Scharmoin. The journey continues by cable car, climbing steeply over the craggy rocks to the western summit of the Parpaner Rothorn at 2,861 metres. A sun terrace and panorama restaurant invite you to sit back enjoy the views.
Well-prepared hiking trails lead back to Lenzerheide-Valbella, or via the Schwellisee lake to Arosa (3 hours). A freeride trail also takes mountain bikers down from the Rothorn summit over rough terrain and back into the valley.
