Maran-Trainingsloipe
Overview
Intro
Slightly hilly and sunny track above the golf court of Maran. Enjoy a nice view on the mountain landscape of Arosa and Schanfigg from this open and treeless area.
Description
On a high plateau above Lake Obersee, embedded between Mt. Weisshorn, Prätsch and Litzirüti, lays Alp Maran. The centre of the settlement, which once was composed of few isolated farmsteads, consists of the cross-country skiing tracks in winter and the 18-hole golf course in summer – one of the highest situated golf courts of Europe!
Gliding over the open, slightly hilly golf court, cross country skiers are spoiled with a wonderful view on the mountain landscape of Arosa and the valley of Schanfigg with its original Walser villages. The training on Maran starts with two short downhills, before it climbs moderately and finally continues almost flatly. In the last third, one passes by the well-known Alpine Garden Maran, which now lays beneath a cover of snow. The show garden of the ETH Zürich with more than 100 rare kinds of potatoes from the fund of the Pro Specie contains further testing grounds for forage production and about 500 vessel plants.
Subsequently, you have the possibility to treat yourself with a delicious drink or some sunbathing. The training track Maran lays from January to April on the sunny side.
