Intro
The most romantic natural ice rink in the Canton of Uri. Both young and old can glide silently across the ice in the heart of the snow-covered landscape of the Schächen valley.
Holzboden ice rink is still prepared entirely by hand. It opens its doors as soon as the first snow has fallen and the temperatures are right. The multi-purpose building is open at the same time as the ice rink to make sure you can enjoy a relaxing visit. Warm and cold drinks are served in a cosy atmosphere, and there is a selection of culinary options for those feeling hungry. Holzboden ice rink is also open for schools and groups outside of the standard opening hours, subject to reservation. Clubs or groups of 10 people or more can enjoy a cosy evening with raclette, fondue or a table-top grill during the winter season (even if the natural ice rink is closed) in the homely Holzboden restaurant.
