Hohgant Bike
Overview
Intro
The tour leads through one of the most beautiful areas of moorland in the Bernese Oberland. The magnificent mountain scenery, idyllic landscapes and lush green pastures will gladden the heart of every biker.
Description
From the start in the centre of Habkern, the route leads over sometimes steep surfaced and gravel roads towards the Grünenberg Pass. This lives up to its name (Green Mountain Pass) because the landscape is shaped by lush meadows and green forests. This is followed by a superb, uneven run down to the valley.
The route continues on through charming countryside with views of the Schrattenfluh and Hohgant down into Bumbach in the Emmental. On towards Kemmeriboden-Bad, a history-steeped place where another of the highlights on this route awaits you. The famous Kemmeriboden-Bad meringues are always worth stopping for.
After refueling in Kemmeriboden-Bad, you pedal uphill for the last time, following the very steep old pack-mule track to Harzisboden. A grandiose landscape awaits you up here in the source region of the River Emme. From almost 1600 metres altitude, the route leads through wetlands to the highest point of the Lombachalp. Time for another short break before accompanied by a wonderful view of the mountains and Lake Thun, you take the surfaced road for a speedy run back to the starting point in Habkern.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
