Overview

Intro

The Via Alpina is the most famous long-distance hiking trail in Switzerland. From east to west, hiking route number 1 connects the most beautiful hiking highlights across the country over 400 km from Vaduz in Liechtenstein to Montreux on Lake Geneva. The Via Alpina is Switzerland, up close and personal! The first part of the Via Alpina leads from Vaduz to Altdorf over remote, secluded alpine passes, through a primeval natural and mountain landscape with wonderful views in and out. On this trek, you will stay overnight in simple mountain inns, mostly where otherwise fox and hare say good night and the peace is only interrupted by the rustling of a mountain stream. You carry your luggage in your backpack.

- Relax and enjoy a leisurely ride through the Rhine Valley on an E-bike
- Discover the UNESCO World Heritage site, the Sardona Tectonic Arena, between Sargans and the Glarus region
- Through the secluded Durnach Valley, you'll reach the Zigerschliz, the deepest valley in Switzerland
- To conclude, in Altdorf, you'll be greeted by William Tell
