Virginie Rebetez fragt seit mehr als zwanzig Jahren, was Fotografie vom Tod zeigen kann und was nicht. Mit *Ajouter un Tiret* wird ihr neuestes Werk *La Rencontre* erstmals gezeigt: eine Arbeit, die mit einer administrativen Tatsache beginnt, der Nicht-Erneuerung einer Grabkonzession, und daraus eine der persönlichsten Arbeiten ihrer Praxis macht. Als Rebetez erfuhr, dass die Gräber ihrer Grosseltern nivelliert werden sollten, entschied sie sich für eine Exhumierung. Nicht als Beobachterin, sondern als Beteiligte: physisch präsent in der Grube, mit den Händen arbeitend, begleitet von ihrer Familie. Jede Phase wurde durch Film, Ton und Fotografie dokumentiert. Ein zweiter Raum führt in den weiteren Bogen ihrer Praxis ein, darunter *Vous trouverez mon corps au petit port* und *L'Inconnue*, ihr langfristiges Engagement für die Beerdigung einer unbekannten Frau, die 2014 in der Genfer Arve gefunden wurde. Rebetez nähert sich dem Tod mit Aufmerksamkeit und Sorgfalt. Ihre Bilder fragen, was es bedeutet, Zeugnis von jemandem abzulegen, der nicht mehr sprechen kann. Ein ethischer Impuls, der sich durch die gesamte Ausstellung zieht. Die Ausstellung ist Teil des Jahresprogramms *handle with care* und wird gemeinsam mit der Arbeit von Tiziana Amico gezeigt.
