Alpabzüge Habkern (alpine cattle drive)
Overview
Intro
When the alpine summer comes to an end and the first snow approaches, the cows return from the Alps to the valley, festively decorated.
With beautiful bouquets of flowers on their heads and traditional bells around their necks, the cows make their way back to the farms in Habkern and the surrounding area.
The Alpabzug is a special and atmospheric event where visitors can experience the village’s living alpine and agricultural traditions up close. It is a wonderful experience for young and old alike and offers an authentic glimpse into life and work in the mountains.
The dates for the Alpabzug are set individually and at short notice by the respective farming families and alpine herders, depending on conditions on the alp and the weather. The exact dates are therefore announced on short notice and are subject to change.
