BuchBasel 2026 International Literature Festival
Overview
Intro
From November 13 to 15, 2026, BuchBasel will bring together literature enthusiasts and authors from around the world. Look forward to readings, discussions, and performances.
From November 13 to 15, 2026, Basel will become a gathering place for literature enthusiasts. The BuchBasel International Literature Festival presents a diverse program featuring traditional readings and discussions, experimental literary presentations, performances, participatory formats, as well as activities for children and literary education.
The 2026 theme is “holding.” The focus is on the question of what holds people, relationships, and societies together—and what role literature can play in this. Literature preserves voices, opens up new perspectives, and creates connections between people, times, and experiences.
The festival hub is located at the Volkshaus Basel. Additional events will take place at various venues throughout Basel. On the festival Sunday, November 15, 2026, the Swiss Book Prize will also be awarded as part of BuchBasel.
